By employing this, a casual Jpeg or Png image gets converted to WebP format via CMS like WordPress, Magento etc, and size becomes almost equal to the 1-3rd value of original size provided zero distortion of the image.

The image size reduction, in all help to load the websites faster, saving precious time and bandwidth as well. The only downfall of this technology is that some browsers (a few old ones like the Internet Explorer) do not support WebP images.
